Electricity producers work towards a low carbon future

Commenting today (3 December) on the forth-coming climate change negotiations in Copenhagen, David Porter, Chief Executive of the Association of Electricity Producers said:

“Electricity producers are keen to invest in technologies that contribute towards a low carbon future. But, companies need clear signals from the Government, sign posting a detailed route map towards emissions targets to mitigate investment risks. It is imperative that global climate change agreements, when legally binding, can translate into national policy.”

“Electricity producers in the UK are working hard towards achieving a low carbon future. Massive investments have already been made in renewable electricity technologies. Plans are also being made for new nuclear plant, demonstration projects for clean fossil fuels and significant upgrades to the transmission grid.”
