AEP welcomes the National Skills Academy for Power
Commenting on the approval of the National Skills Academy for Power by David Kidney MP, Energy and Climate Change Minister, made today (18 March), David Porter, Chief Executive of the Association of Electricity Producers said:
‘We welcome the launch of the National Skills Academy for Power. Skilled professionals are required to facilitate the UK’s transition to a low carbon economy and today’s announcement contributes towards achieving this goal. The UK faces the closure of about a quarter of its installed capacity by 2015 due to the old age of some plant and to meet EU air emissions standards. Electricity producers are investing in replacing these power stations and specialist training, such as that proposed by the Academy, will assist in this objective.’
