Statistics & Data

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) publishes a range of statistics on the electricity industry, including the annual Digest of UK Energy Statistics, available here.

Real time market data can be found on the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Service web page.

Environmental statistics can be obtained from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

The Office for National Statistics is responsible for collecting a wide range of UK statistics.

Organisations

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is responsible for the government’s energy and climate change mitigation policy.

Ofgem regulates the electricity and gas industries in Great Britain, as well as administering some of the government’s energy efficiency and renewable energy schemes.

National Grid operates the central network of distribution for electricity and gas in the UK.

ELEXON is responsible for managing and operating the systems which allow for balancing and settlement in the electricity market.

The Energy Networks Association represents the UK’s transmission and distribution network owners.

The Energy Retail Association is the consumer-facing trade association for the energy supply industry. The ERA’s website provides information about fuel poverty, energy efficiency and industry standards for retail.
